IBM ValuePoint

This Computer is said to be both ISA/VL- and PCI-Bus based, had a 486DX@25MHz installed, which we replaced with an AMD Overdrive processor which runs at 133MHz (but it doesn't really feel that way...). It has a SoundBlaster Pro 8 (it just supports 8 bit thus only sample rates up to 22.5KHz), a SCSI Interface and a Ethernet and Token Ring network adapter. As an add-on it has a CD-writer and can be connected to our external SCSI harddisk and CD-ROM drive.
The soundcard can hardly be used because on the one hand the machine is too small to handle mp3 playback, and then the Sound Blaster Pro 8 just supports 22.05 KHz Stereo but CD-Audio has a sample rate of 44.1 KHz. That means that most sound files have to be resampled. This uses too much of the cpu's power.
Additionally there is a high noise level that makes it exhausting to listen to the output.

Moritz's Computer

This computer has an AMD K5PR166 (really 117.5 MHz) processor, 64 MB PS/2 Ram and the mainbord has a VIA chipset. It is equipped with a Voodoo 2 (8MB) card, a Martox Mystique graphics adapter, a SoundBlaster 16 and an old floppy/ide controller because the floppy controller on the mainbord is broken. That's where it got the name from, as it's quite old and broken down. There are also an Ethernet and a Token Ring card installed. Right now it has 3 harddisks, 4.7GB, 15GB, and 8GB, but they are quite full. Running OSs are OS/2, Freebsd, Linux, M$98. I think it's incedible fast for a 117 MHz machine and I have seen much slower ones with the same processor.

Kayak 2 - HP

This is my main pc. It's equippet with an SCSI 160 controller, to which a 18 and 36GB hardisk is attached. Both are used as system drives. An additional 120GB IDE drive ist for storage purposes. The graphics card is a 3D-Labs GVX1 with 32MB RAM. It's a special version for HP. The only prozessor installed is a PIII 733MHz. The PC got 512MB Rambus-RAM.

XT Computer NEC V20, 12 MHz

This is what has evolved out of our first PC. It started with an XT clone with 4.77 MHz, 640 KB RAM and two 5 1/4 inch 360 KB floppy drives. After some years, we fisrt added an ST225 hard disk drive with 20 MB, then we replaced the mainboard with the present one (NEC V20, 12 MHz, 1 MB RAM). Later, we had to replace the case (the power supply broke down) and got another ST 225 disk drive.
This is the present state. The system is fully operative, it connects to the LAN with a Proteon Token Ring card (which works nicely in the 8 bit ISA slot, although it is a 16 bit ISA card). Video goes through the original Hercules clone card with 64 KB RAM and a TTL screen attached. The installed OS is DR-DOS 5. Nothing compares to the sound of the two Seagate drives installed...
