As I'm using IRC quite often I wanted to know how the IRC protocal works. To find out I read the IRC RFCs and implemented them. The other reason why I worte it was that I wanted to find out how to program TCP/IP sockets.

Note that it's not very well written and has a lot of limitations, some of them are caused by certain limitations of the classic rexx.
In the zip file you'll find four files: a help file (ircbot.txt), a config file (ircbot.conf), an ircbot.lls file that stores a linklist and the program itself. In order to run it properly you need to get the fortune executables from Hobbes and modify the conig file. I don't want to include the fortune files due to their size.
